Welcome to this website!
My name is Alexandra - also known by the short form Sandra, and it is a pleasure for me to introduce my work on these pages.
The fascinating possibilities of artistic expression erupted into my life with a tremendous
burst of energy after I had spent my entire
professional career working with scientists -
natural scientists, cultural scientists, and exact scientists.
While this had been an intellectually challenging
experience it also left me eager to search for means of deeper and more personal
expression. The search has led me to depths and heights,
to beauty and terror, but each work is the honest expression
of personal experience.
The results of this search are presented on this site.
About the name of this Website
‘The Fire and the Rose’ is part of the final phrase from ‘Little Gidding’, one of T.S. Eliot’s ‘Four Quartets’.
The entire poem is too long to be presented here, but the last lines are as follows:
“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And to know the place for the first time….
And all shall be well
And all manner of thing shall be well
When the tongues of flame are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one. “
